    A sidepath of the research about the material presence Asphalt – a representative additional layer as a subtle escapism of the rectilinear order.


All stones small and massive, recite in their geological placements due to the impelling logic of water. May it be in liquid or frozen form it acts as a sculptor. Without trying to curry favor and external validation, it shapes the assets of the landscape.



 







From a phenomenological point of view, asphalt is not only a material substance, but an experience that largely resides in our interactions with the world. A line drawing seperating the ‘wild’ landscape from cultivated space.

An extensive human presence wriggle on the skin of the mountain range ‘the Dolomites’. That rigid rock formation is continously wriggling itself under the persistant unifying friction of tectonic plates.
