Somewhere in Particular

A sidepath of the research about the material presence Asphalt – a representative additional layer as a subtle escapism of the rectilinear order.

Crawling within the city and far beyond that fullness. A habitat where other laws apply.

From a phenomenological point of view, asphalt is not only a material substance, but an experience that largely resides in our interactions with the world. A line drawing seperating the ‘wild’ landscape from cultivated space.

A material designed as an additional expression of perpetual movement as a common ground.

[... The hills were sculptures; the roads defined the form. Above all, there was the sensation of moving physically over the contours of fulnesses and concavities, through hollows and over peaks – feeling, touching, through mind and hand and eye. ...] Barbara Hepworth

An ode to the seasonal pollination and consumption of rock-formations. An extensive human presence wriggle on the skin of the mountain range ‘the Dolomites’. That rigid rock formation is continously wriggling itself under the persistant unifying friction of tectonic plates.
