State of Transition – Sofa
Royal Academy of Art, The Hague & Salone del Mobile, Milan2015
Polyether, acrylic, copper tubes
State of Transition started as a research into the way we visually, mentally and physically gather information with which we look at material and define our surrounding. The object functions as a metaphorical container which anticipates a desire to interact and uses the human body as a catalyst.
The abstraction of the form and the reversal of the usual inside material, become the main caracteristics which provides a new perception on biases.
Once at the base one is able to reset its expectations. All the biased ways in which we are used to approach objects are no longer applicable.
Among other things part of Dutch Design Isola during the Salone del Mobile, Milan
