Material as an other language - one to seduce and lure you in its realm - atmospere.

plane primary shapes - to abstract and bring it to a base of abstract shapes

State of Transition looks at material as a framing container for an essence. The abstract furniture pieces are in a constant state of transition, awaiting the moment in which a person provides its context. Stripped of all context, the question arises how the objects should be approached, both physically and mentally.

Form Semantics are primair and een abstracte basis om de verschillende facetten van het materiaal meer te kunnen laten spreken.
--- focused on the surface of things...
Once at the base one is able to reset its expectations. All the biased ways in which we are used to approach them are no longer applicable.
Only with the user’s involvement, the object will expose what narrative lies hidden underneath its surface. The object anticipates a personal desire to interact and uses the human as a catalyst. By stripping down the object from its interpretable caracteristics, not only showcases materiality as an own language (system of semantic seduction) to lure on the foreground creates an moment of potential and further action is required. Such a moment is described by Roland Barthes as ‘The Proairetic Code’.
This code refers to the structuring principle that builds interest or suspense on the part of a reader or viewer. The proairetic code applies to any action that implies a further narrative action.

The abstract shape creates a moment of questioning and serves as a container which provokes an urge to explore.
Once at the base one is able to reset its expectations. All the biased ways in which we are used to approach objects are no longer applicable.
An action is transitive, it seeks only to provoke an object, a result; the gesture is the indeterminate and inexhaustible total of reasons, pulsions, indolences which surround the action with an atmosphere.
